Wendy Martyna on Reading & Writing

Wendy Martyna is a continuing lecturer in the Sociology Department. She teaches courses on social psychology that focus on death and dying, family and youth, gender issues, language and social interaction, and social change. She received the Excellence in Teaching Award after the 2002-03 academic year.

In this segment, Dr. Martyna discusses why she assigns a variety of course readings (from textbooks to essays to young adult fiction); how to elicit creative writing through assignment design; and the benefits of reading student work.
